| My amp of choice...the Randall RM100M is part of the MTS series of amps.
It features modular preamps which are interchangable so you can cutomise the 3 channels to how you would like the amp to sound. The modules cover a very wide range of amp styles from clean channels (Blackface modules and the Clean Module) to high gain preamps (e.g. the Bogner XTC module and the Ultra module). It truely is a remarkable peice of equipment and sounds as good as it looks. The preamps are faithful to the amps which they are modeled on and the power amp section adds the low end grind and kick which will knock walls down. The amp has a number of stunning features such as a Density control on the front panel as well as a Presence control. There are two effects loops, one Parallel and one Series. The level for the Parallel loop is controlled from the front panel. There are Biasing point for each power tube as well as fuses for each tube so that if one blows the rest still work. The amp even has a cooling fan on the chassic to been the heat down! Randall's attention to details and the build quality if spectacular to say he least. I am using the George Lynch Signature Series Super V, Brahma and Mr. Scary modules in the amp. Each of them have very individual characters and sound. The Super V is the clean channel. Based on the Vox AC30 it provides a really nice shimmering chime. It also has a lot of gain on tap should I need it. The Brahma is based on Lynch's own '68 Marshall Plexi sound and the module certainly does that justice. It is medium gain, has a wonderful growl and beautiful tone. The Mr. Scary is a cross between a hot-rodded Marshall and a Soldano SLO - it is awesome! My favorite of the three. It has enough gain on tap that I don't need to use a drive pedal for solo boosts and the tone is incredible. Sound clips of the amp can be heard below... The clips were recorded using the Clean, JTM, Ultra Lead modules which I used to run in the amp... Clips of the Super V, Brahma and Mr. Scary will be coming very soon... Enjoy!!! |

| Very cool amps by a very cool company. I have been using my Soldano Supercharger pedal for a few years now and it really is the holy grail of my tone. The pedal has "that tone"...You've all heard the legends about the fabulous Soldano tone, its all true and some...
My Supercharger pedal is loaded with Sovtek 12AX7LPS tubes in it. I have tried changing the tubes to Electro Harmonix tubes but the tone changed a little, so I recently hunted down some more Sovteks to use in the pedal...I use the pedal for most of my recording. It really is an incredible unit...The first time I really used this was to record my tracks on the George Lynch Tribute CD... |

| The Palmer PGA-04 is a load box and cab simulator. The Palmer is used in studios worldwide and by many, many artist (George Lynch, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani...to name a few...) and is a pretty amazing unit. | ![]() |

This is a baby sized amp which packs an incrdible punch! I picked it up for practice sessions as it's so portable and easy to drag around. 15 watts sounds like a small amp but it easily has enough power to play a small gig. The amp is a single channel pure class A amp. The magic happens when the power amp section is turned up to maximum and starts clipping. It has a very warm sound and a great drive sound when the gain and volume is turned up. The valves have been replaced with a pair of Harma E34Ls, and EH 12AX7 valves in the preamp, which improved the tone a lot. I recorded a track for my solo CD with this amp a few months ago so look out for soundclips in the coming months. To record the amp I hooked up the Palmer PGA-04 to the external speaker socket, and then used the line out to route the signal to my POD. The POD then went into the soundcard for recording. |

| The absolute cutting edge of technology...The POD is a unit which I probably couldn't live without. It is such a great sounding unit and very, very versatile. It makes recording life very easy for me. I used to use the amp models on the POD 2.0 without any additional drive pedals, but since acquiring the Soldano Supercharger I have been using that in front of the POD, together with a Boss DS1, to produce my sound. This is also a very easy and convenient way to record as I can turn the units on and off at will and get the same sound every time...I sometimes use the presets on the unit as well (mostly for clean sounds and sometimes the Marshall Plexi preset to double up guitar parts). I prefer the sounds on the 2.0 unit over the newer PODxt. They sound more organic to me then the newer amp models. I have also tried upgrading the processor chip on this unit to a version 2.3 chip, but this affected the sounds I was getting so I quickly changed it back! The 2.3 chip does have some great sounds on it though...
I also use the unit as an interface for my preamps and the Banshee via the Palmer PGA-04. You'll hear the 2.0 unit on everything I've recorded since about 2000... |
