Amps...
My amp of choice...the Randall RM100M is part of the MTS series of amps.

It features modular preamps which are interchangable so you can cutomise the 3 channels to how you would like the amp to sound. The modules cover a very wide range of amp styles from clean channels (Blackface modules and the Clean Module) to high gain preamps (e.g. the Bogner XTC module and the Ultra module). It truely is a remarkable peice of equipment and sounds as good as it looks. The preamps are faithful to the amps which they are modeled on and the power amp section adds the low end grind and kick which will knock walls down.

The amp has a number of stunning features such as a Density control on the front panel as well as a Presence control. There are two effects loops, one Parallel and one Series. The level for the Parallel loop is controlled from the front panel. There are Biasing point for each power tube as well as fuses for each tube so that if one blows the rest still work. The amp even has a cooling fan on the chassic to been the heat down! Randall's attention to details and the build quality if spectacular to say he least.

I am using the George Lynch Signature Series Super V, Brahma and Mr. Scary modules in the amp. Each of them have very individual characters and sound. The Super V is the clean channel. Based on the Vox AC30 it provides a really nice shimmering chime. It also has a lot of gain on tap should I need it. The Brahma is based on Lynch's own '68 Marshall Plexi sound and the module certainly does that justice. It is medium gain, has a wonderful growl and beautiful tone. The Mr. Scary is a cross between a hot-rodded Marshall and a Soldano SLO - it is awesome! My favorite of the three. It has enough gain on tap that I don't need to use a drive pedal for solo boosts and the tone is incredible.

Sound clips of the amp can be heard below...

The clips were recorded using the Clean, JTM, Ultra Lead modules which I used to run in the amp...

Clips of the Super V, Brahma and Mr. Scary will be coming very soon...

Enjoy!!!

The Palmer PGA-04 is a load box and cab simulator. The Palmer is used in studios worldwide and by many, many artist (George Lynch, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani...to name a few...) and is a pretty amazing unit.
I've been using LIne 6 gear since around 2000 when I bought the POD 2.0 unit. It was an amazing peice of gear at the time and served me well over the years. I recorded most of my first album 'Strange Day' using a Soldano Supercharger pedal, a Boss DS1 and the POD as an interface to my recording gear. having access to effects and cab models created a really organic sound at any volume and the tones I managed to capture on 'Strange Day' still sound great!

Last year I upgraded to a PODx3 LIve. This was a huge step forward in technology as it had more amp models, more effects, and most importantly the ability to set up 2 different rigs to run at the same time panned left and right. My purchase coincided with my endorsement with Line 6.

I used the x3 for a long time as an interface again. I was running my Randall through the Palmer and then into the POD. This time though, I was able to create 2 seperate tones from each channel and then stack them on top of each other when mixing to create a really deep sound...

As my studio has an iso room now I mainly record the amp through my Randall 212NXT cab mic'ed up but I use the x3 for practicing and teaching.
