The George Lynch Tribute CD "Will Play For Lynch" began as an idea on the George Lynch Message Board. One of the members, Regan Bell, posted a thread asking if anybody would be interested in putting together a tribue CD for George. A number of people were intested, me being one of those people, and the project gathered a momentum. We had the backing of the board's administrator, Jen Rosenberg, who was 100% behind the project, and at one point was going to record for the project as well.

My initial involvement was as a musician only, however I was concious from a very early stage that if the project was to work then somebody would have to take on the administration role. I was working in the entertainment industry at the time and thought that the challenge would be interested so I took the helm.

A lot of musicians had initially put their names down to do tracks and at one point we were looking at creating a double CD package with 21 tracks. Unfortunately a lot of the musicians weren't able to record and therefore the CD was eventually cut down to a single CD with 12 tracks. That worked out really well.

The recording and production process took about 18 months. The tracks were sent to me with about 12 months but then I had to create the artwork, clear the licenses, duplicate the CDs and then get them up on my site for dsitrubution. This took about 6 months to complete.

We recorded the CD primarily as a "Thank You" to George. We wanted to give something back for the many years of awesome music that he has provided to his fans, and us in particular. George really liked the CD. A preview copy was sent to him in September 2002 (for his birthday), and then a final copy was sent to him a year later when the packaged CD was released (on 28 September 2003). George's favorite tracks on the CD were "Mr. Scary", which I recorded, and "Rain" which was recorded by Chad Coggin.

I met George a few times in 2003 and 2004 and he has always been very complimentary about the CD...
